Encouragements to get into the Bible and more resources
More than ever, God’s Word is the only reliable source of truth, guidance, and hope in our world and to get all we need from it, we need to get into it.
Note—I didn’t say “read” it—because it is just as valid to get into the Bible by listening to it as it is to read it. That’s how God’s people through most of human history took in the content of the Bible and it’s a great way to do it today. The YouVersion Bible app is my favorite and highly recommended.
Regardless of your method for taking it in, you need a plan so you either don’t wander around aimlessly reading a passage here and there out of context or re-reading the same favorite passages again and again.
You’ll get the most out of your Bible when you read it with a plan that will help you get the big picture of God’s plan for our salvation both in how He helps us live a life of meaning and purpose now and forever. The Bible tells ONE Story and you’ll see it best if you take the time and effort (and it isn’t easy and it takes a year) for you to read the entire book in Chronological Order.
Following is the link to various resources encourage you to do it—please note, I’ve switched podcast (actually in process) host to: https://bible-805.captivate.fm, so I’m not sure how the podcast link will work, but the video should be fine.

A new resource—Ministry Miscellany, a podcast—
I’ve been doing Bible teaching for a very long time (depending on where you start, but over 50 years) and I trust that along the way, I’ve learned a few things that the Lord has used to grow people in the faith and I want to pass them on, which is why I started this podcast. It is just getting started but I wanted to put how to get people into the Bible as the first of topics, so if you prefer to listen for your motivation, here is a new resource for you.
And if all that is too much…..
I know that reading through the Bible in Chronological Order, no matter how beneficial it might be, isn’t for everyone and so I wrote START HERE, a plan for curious people to begin reading the Bible, a new paperback book with a shorter reading plan, 11 books in the New Testament to introduce you to the Bible and the Christian faith: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G4W9YW5Z?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Finally
There is truly nothing better you can do for yourself and your people than to read through the Bible in Chronological Order in the coming year or to begin reading it.
Here you have the resources to help you do it and I pray you’ll take advantage of them and pass them on to others.
To help you through your reading, I am redoing and updating the lessons that will take you through the Bible, but that is for another newsletter.
Grace and peace,
Yvon, your fellow pilgrim, writer and teacher for Jesus
